My daughter is a VERY reluctant reader. Her teacher wants her reading beginning chapter books every week and I couldn't even get her to read a short storybook without a fight... Until I found these books!! Once she started reading this series I actually had to tell her to put them down to do other things. There is a picture on every page but still a lot of words so I feel it is a great transition for her. She loves that Prince Lucas and his friend Clara meet dragons, mermaids, fairies, witches, wizards, trolls and go on many different adventures together. She is on book 8 out of 12 right now and she is loving every moment of reading them. I feel the author did a great job of gearing these books to boys and girls. I have to recommend these books to anyone who knows a reluctant reader and any young reader who likes fantasy.

Love this series. My 4th grade son is behind in reading due to dyslexia and this is one of those series he can read, and understand, and take/pass those reading points quizzes on, and he's interested in them. Fantastic. I'm glad we found them!

I really enjoyed reading about this time in history that we don’t hear a lot about. Interesting facts amidst the fiction that is brought to life in seven unique ways. Most of these authors were new to me and I enjoyed reading the different view points and writing styles. I enjoyed each novella but I must say Journey of the Heart by Johnnie Alexander was my favorite as I love reading about the Underground Railroad when it is well done. Charity Sinclair was an impressive heroine and her strength in her beliefs is an example for everyone. Well done and believable. Pressing On by Rose Allen McCauley is enlightening about the Separatists and their beliefs and lifestyle. The Bridge Between Us by Sherri Wilson Johnson has mystery woven into the romance . A great story of forgiveness. Return to Sweetwater Cove by Christina Miller is heartwarming and brought tears to my eyes. Digging for Love by Ramona K. Cecil shows how misconceptions about social classes and judging someone by their nationality causes harm when hearts are involved. Wedding of the Waters by Rita Gerlach shows that love knows no boundaries. Charlotte risks everything to attend to her first love. The Love Of a Child by Lauralee Bliss has you falling for the children. All in all this is an enjoyable collection that provides quick reads that you can read each in one setting. You can feel the surge of excitement around the building of the canal and the changes it brought to the area and the people.The Erie Canal was dug, by hand, across Upstate New York state and Ohio in the early 1800s. It brought a lot of people together, in many ways, because of the way it was made and the communities it went through. These 7 stories are an interesting and diverse look at the people whose lives were impacted by it. I live close to part of the canal, so it makes it a little more personal to me. Of course my favorite one is about the Irishman who worked digging the canal, my second favorite about the German village, since my heritage is both Irish and German. All the stories include interesting historical information about this vast area and the early days of the canal. It's easy to become thoroughly engrossed in each story. They're written with great depth. You can easily envision the characters and feel as keenly as they do what they are going through. Never a boring moment! I enjoyed reading about the building on the Erie Canal during the different stages of development. Also I enjoyed reading about the different towns the canal went through and how it brought goods to their town and how they were able to travel by water way. Reading this reminds me of the trip I took last Summer to Cumberland, Maryland to visit the Cumberland Visitor Center which houses the C&O Canal National Historical Park. Inside the museum are many pictures of digging the canal and water travel. I was absolutely fascinated and could fully enjoy this book more because of the visuals I had while reading it. Do not buy this book. The author did not do her research, and many parts of the book are completely WRONG.So let me explain. I've owned tarantulas for maybe 25 years now. There aren't many tarantula care books, so I was excited when I saw this one come out. Excited until I started reading it. The book starts out "Tarantulas are predatory, venomous, dangerous, territorial....." Hmmm "venomous and dangerous." Really, so hundreds, perhaps thousands of people must die from them every year? This is plainly NOT TRUE.A few pages the book says this "Some people can have a strong allergic reaction to the tarantula venom, and some species have venom that can be fatal to humans." As pointed out in other books, this is 100% FALSE.On the chapter on "feeding" the book says that you never have to "worry about overfeeding." Again NOT TRUE. Tarantulas in captivity will almost always overeat if given the opportunity. I guess I could go on and on about everything that is incorrect on almost every page, but you get the picture. This book is very inaccurate in some places and flat-out WRONG in many others. For the happiness of your pet tarantula, do not buy this book.Instead buy "The Tarantula Keeper's Guide" by Schultz & Schulz. This book is about 8 years old, and could be written in a more organized way, but at least it is highly accurate. Hopefully the authors will update it soon, but in any case, its still 10,000 times better than this book.

As a long time tarantula keeper please don't use any of the information in this book! It's mind boggling bad! It's clear the author got her information from Wikipedia and other non-credible sources. She really could have reached out to a credible arachnid keepers community like arachnoboards and gotten loads of proper information. She could have reached out to Tom Moran or any of the many YouTubers as well!

This book is terribly inaccurate..... Tarantulas are awesome, easy pets....this book makes them seem dangerous when they really aren't

This book is completely full of misinformation on just about every end! Follow this book & you'll end up with dead spiders. Head over to arachnoboards or https://tomsbigspiders.com if you're a beginner looking for good information on tarantulas. They are not fatal, aggressive, or particularly hard to care for in any way, shape, or form.

I do not enjoy posting negative reviews. However, as a tarantula keeper I must in this case for the sake of the animals. Much of this "information" is wildly inaccurate. Heat mats are a no-no. I could go on and on, but what is the point?Do not buy this book if you want healthy tarantulas. They are beautiful animals and deserve better then poorly researched misinformation like this.

Full of false information. Avoid at all costs.

This book was essential to me in better understanding Sabbat politics and actions.

This book was well written, and it gave a lot of good ideas for conflicts and storylines in times of war. It also focused on the types of goals that each group has (Camarilla, Sabbat, and Independent) as well as common actions they would take and when. Not only that, but there were some very interesting surprises, as well. All told, it was well written.Unfortunately, it was not quite perfect. For example, the editing was done poorly in some places. Misspelled words should never make it into a publication. The other reviewer is right, as well, about the art. Much of it is too dark to make anything useful out. I like the trend away from the lame cartoony art, but the noir is not much better.Good for a storyteller, probably extraneous for others.Harkius

This book really helps to give a storyteller ideas about what steps the Camarilla and tbe Sabbat take when either side decides to beseige and take a city. While much of it would seem logical, White Wolf goes into some depth here, and examines all sides of any potential conflict: Camarilla, Sabbat, Anarchs, Independent clans... And it looks at what they do when they are defending or attacking.Taken side by side with "Gilded Cage" this book helps to redefine Vampire: The Masquerade away from the brutal ultra-violence and more into the environmental-spanning manipulations necessary to run a political campaign.Some of the graphics (one or two full-page ones, and most of the NPC templates) are way too dark, though (I can barely see any detail). But beyond that, there's definitely something for everyone here.
