I had hoped it would be useful for introducing children to bird watching; but most of the birds are exotic birds of other countries and of little use in teaching U.S. children about birds they are likely to see in the U.S. It's too bad there isn't a U.S. version.

When designing this game they really made sure to pay attention to every detail, even the tile bag has bird silhouettes printed on the muslin. The set has 12 cards which makes it good for a large group or multiple cards per player. The bird names are written below each illustration in a clear and legible manner so even kids are able to see them easily. The booklet that is included also has facts about the birds in the game so it makes a good educational break between Bingo sessions. Really, the whole thing is a great way to learn bird names and identifying features.

This is such a well made game. All the pieces are heavy duty, the illustrations are wonderful. It is a good introduction to birds from around the world. I do wish there was a North America version to teach my kids the names of birds we may actually encounter.

Our 6 year old has been asking to play this all week! We played as a family last night with our 6 year old and 3 year old. They both really enjoyed it. Our 3 year old "got" it, which was fun to see. Because you draw pictures of the birds when calling out which birds, it was easy for our 3 year old to see the picture and then look at his card to see if he had a match. This was really fun. We look forward to playing more and learning more about these birds!

My five year old daughter is very interested in birds so I bought this to help her memorize different kinds. Everything is very well made. Most of our game board boxes get pretty beat up but this one is so well made I don't think that will be the case.

My children LOVE this game! They want to play it often and I was impressed that the second day we had it they identified a bird outside! It is fun to have a game they love and expanding their knowledge of birds. We even went to an aviary as a result of them loving this game.

We bought this for our grand daughters. It was certainly age appropriate for the 8 year old and the 12 year old....and we had fun playing bingo with them. What surprised us was that the 3 year old REALLY wanted to play and could not wait until after supper. She began to match up all the birds on the cards to the bird pictures on the master sheet....and played that way over and over again. Later, though she could not read, she loved playing Bingo by looking at the bird picture on the drawn card and matching it to her Bingo card. Great educational and fun learning time for all.

This is the most fabulous family gift EVER! We all enjoyed it -- the 4-year old, the 6-year old, two people in their 30s, and two people in their 70s. The children learned so much from it.

I read this book with great interest. It is well researched, articulate, unbiased and also, for me sad.I sensed no bias in this work. Given the volatility of the issue, I consider this quite an achievement.I have always believed as the author so eloquently shared, that the miracle of focusing on Jesus in the midst of confusion and uncertainty affords clarity.If Methodists embrace this scholarly, reasoned, unbiased and exquisitely crafted work, there is hope for the denomination; though, allow me to be clear, the reader will have to arrive at his or her conclusions. Dr. McConkey is a master of deciphering a problem, revealing the ethical and theologic tensions of the dilemma, all the while arming the reader with tools to reason with and ponder the arguments.On a personal note, I wish the best for the "United" Methodist Church. In my opinion, the stakes could not be higher; the message of salvation and a clear vision associated with it that helps those emerging as men and women - that they might see their beauty rather than the kind of unholy judgment that leads a shocking number of those struggling with their sexuality to suicide and/or the loss of faith.Having said this, you'll not find Dr. McConkey lured into conclusions on one side or the other. We must all consider the dilemma in contemplation and prayer.Thank you for reminding me of Ingrid's exhortation to keep our eyes on Jesus. She would be very proud of your work in this area, Dale.

My congregation has a bible study currently in place on this topic and I found the 18-year-old text we used to be out of date and not reflective of the current issues facing the UMC with the pending special conference in Feb 2019. This popped up in my social media feed and I picked it up on impulse. It is a concise, thoughtful, and measured look at the many sides in this divisive issue of human sexuality and the church.I highly recommend this to anyone with questions about what faces the United Methodist Church in the coming year. It doesn't take sides. It merely presents the viewpoints of traditionalists, centrists, and progressives in light of the four parts of the Wesleyan Quadrilateral.

This book did a good job explaining the various factors and positions of Progressives, Centrists, and Traditionalists in the current discussion of the role of homosexuality in the UMC. Although it fairly presented all sides it did not make any recommendations which was good. On the other hand it did not address the fact that the various factions have boxed themselves into theologically opposed positions such that schism within the church may be the only option. Without compromise no Way Forward may be found. This book did not offer any plan for compromise, but it didn’t have to; it is a sociological study of the schism.

Dale has done an admirable job of presenting this important and potentially dividing issue in the UMC. Very informative and balanced. Very good description of the three plans to be presented. This is a matter of personal conscience and deeply held beliefs on both sides of the issue. Praying constantly for our church.On a personal note, I smiled at your Ingrid stories. I miss her smile, her kindness and her hugs.God be with each of us in this and in every aspect of our lives.

This is a thoughtful, informative book that offers the reader facts and history on a most important topic. Though written about a divide within the United Methodist Church, the book's topic can be applied to all of us as we all NEED to address this issue and try to come to some important compromises. This can only help to heal the divide.

Dale has written a comprehensive study of our UMC history regarding human sexuality. I've purchased a copies to circulate among church members to explain clearly where our denomination has come from, where we are now and the possibilities for our future. It is truly an unbiased study that helps everyone understand positions that are different than their own. I highly recommend this book to anyone who wants to get a clear idea of the UMC process for addressing our current situation.

This is a very balanced and clear description of the issues affecting the United Methodist Church. Recommended reading for any Methodist.

About the Author

Joanne arrived in the USA with a backpack full of nothing but hopes and dreams. She was only 27 years old but had already accomplished some major life goals. Female bodybuilding was a very new and somewhat strange sport in the 1980's, Joanne first hit the stage at 17 years of age and by the age of 26 she had won the World, European and the coveted British Championship. With pro card and an honors degree in business in hand, Joanne left her English home and moved first to Australia and then to Venice Beach CA where for the next 24 years she became one of the most recognized and successful personal trainers in the Mecca of fitness, Golds Gym, Venice. She competed at the highest level of the sport competing in Ms Olympia twice before retiring at the grand old age of 30 after 13 years of continuous competition and dieting. The nature of the sport required expertise in mastering body composition and Joannes study of nutrition set her apart from all but the elite amongst personal trainers. Joanne became known as the trainer to get clients stage and screen ready with clients ranging from Demi Lovato, Chelsea Handler, Shawn Wayans, Rodney and Joan Dangerfield, soap icon, Stephen Nichols, Oscar winner John Ridley, Ms Olympia Monic Brant and many many more. Joannes has personally gained 50lb of muscle, reduced her body fat to single digits multiple times and mastered the midlife mayhem that her own age brought her. This is a great book that tackles the complex issue of fat loss very effectively.Rare is the nutrition book that is both fun to read and packed with useful, immediately applicable information. This is such a book.I find it hard to take nutrition and exercise advice from someone who doesn’t look the part. The author not only achieved professional status in bodybuilding herself but has maintained a very lean physique for a lifetime.The author has clearly been in the trenches helping everyone from super athletes to joe and sally average to get leaner and improve their health. It’s interesting how they both deal with the exact same challenges. Biochemistry is biochemistry.Filled with useful anecdotes, this book covers lots of topics such as:-the role of hormones in fat loss and gain-the role of stress in making fat loss difficult-an excellent and detailed (but very clear) discussion on how water retention REALLY works and how to take control of it-what REALLY dampens metabolism instead of the often blamed culprit: agingI really enjoyed the fact that this book covers all aspects of fat loss - from nutrition to exercise to physiological factors. This is important because true, sustainable fat loss requires attention to all factors and the author covers each in depth.I think this author meant to write a book for people who “have been around the block” a few times when it comes to dieting but it can also serve as a primer for beginners that want to skip over the common mistakes and just do things right the first time.

Great book! There was a lot of information presented in an easy to follow layout. So much I could relate to about dieting mistakes in the past. This had a lot of practical information that I could use beginning today to improve my health and nutrition! Even being someone who knows a little about nutrition and tries to eat healthy, I learned about some ideas and ways I have been using that are outdated and can change for the better. This book is motivating as well. I really enjoyed this authors writing style too.

Over the course of my decades within the fitness industry, I have not found a book that got to the source of why we gain/lose weight....until now. This is not a fad diet book, it is a book that goes far beyond that in explaining why all the calorie counting and cardio will not help you achieve your goals unless you change the way you look at food and how you eat. I love that Joanne breaks it down into terms that make sense and that how stress can play a role in not losing weight. I read the book through and have started it again to take more notes. By applying the things that she talks about into your daily life, you will feel better, look better and extend your longevity into your golden years.This book is a must have for anyone serious about taking better care of your body and looking and feeling your best. Thank you Joanne Lee Cornish for this treasure.

Wonderfully written book packed full of great information. As a nutritionist I would highly recommend this book as it’s everything you need to know . Only complaint is she basically has subtle undertones of fat being the answer to all your problems which is not 100 percent true . I’m sure if she add another chapter about each meal plan types and why one may or may it be right would have made the book a 5!

What a great book! It’s a book I wish could be implemented into schools as nutrition is so important and knowledge is power. If our younger generation read this it would really change things! She explains things so well and made over complicated things simple. I couldn’t put the book down once I started reading it and could see myself in all of the different scenarios as I’ve already experienced a lot of it. I loved the part about being dropped from the sky and getting directions to the beach! I wish I could have read this years ago! I’ve known Joanne for almost 20 years and her knowledge is powerful! The book offers an account of the complete Buffett mythology: his folksy, Midwestern values, his common-sense voice, his sage wisdom about business. It reinforces his philosophy of investing in undervalued companies with excellent long-term prospects, his injunction, via Graham, to “be fearful when others are greedy, and greedy when others are fearful.” It charts his growing fame, his circus-like shareholder meetings, his numerous appearances in the business press and on business TV networks, his love for Cherry Coke and Gorat’s steakhouse. And while the mythology is probed and dissected in some ways - yes, he’s lived in the same house since 1958 but Schroeder points out that he has remodeled it since then - I don’t think the reader will come away from this book with a true understanding of what’s driving him, at least not with a view or interpretation of this that has the endorsement and exposition of the author.If I had to take a guess, the primary influence on Buffett seems to be his father, Howard Buffett, a stock broker from Omaha whose civic values led him to Washington D.C. where he served in Congress during Warren’s youth. His mix of patriotism and business seems to have greatly influenced his son whom he took on a visit to the New York Stock Exchange in 1940 at the age of ten. Buffett says he wanted money so he could be “independent” and didn’t like to do manual labor but so do lots of us and he didn’t stop making money once he’d become independent so there is clearly more to it than that. It’s this sort of reading of Buffett I wish there was more of in this book.The book is nonetheless filled with as much superficial detail as you could want about Buffett. At 816 pages there’s tons of information about his whole life and world, it perfectly captures Buffett’s voice, as well as separate accounts of many important times in his life from the perspective of his family and friends. Schroeder has written a good valuation report style biography of the man and I suppose in many ways that’s the type of biography most suited to this life.

I had to read the book because I work for Berkshire Hathaway and I had to understand our founder and what he stood for. I find a lot of parallels in the thinking of the great minds of incredibly brilliant people. This is a great American Dream success story but Warren Buffet takes very little credit for his success. He credits the success of his luck "the ovarian lottery" as he calls it, being born in America first, and then all the other possibilities that came to him by "luck". I see an incredible genius who was not afraid to follow his heart, take chances, and put in the hard work. I see a brilliant mind always thirsty for knowledge and growth but able to keep his feet planted on the ground. I see a human struggling for balance in life between what we want and can achieve and those we love. I see a man who cared and gave back and was not afraid to walk his own walk.

I like the book. It is long though and has many events that I didn't know about Mr. Buffett. I read a lot of things about Buffett and it was nice to learn more about him. It is always interesting to me to learn about this incredible investor and to learn that like us, he has his faults just like the rest of us.
