Love this book! Great pictures, detailed descriptions, inspiring words. Olivia Summers has done a great job of pulling it together. Obviously, this is not a book for the beginner. It's for folks who've been at it for a while and want to sincerely advance their practice and take it the next level. I like the author's suggestion to take it slowly (one a day or even one a week) instead of trying to tackle them all at once. I also like her idea of taking your yoga practice to the outdoors. Why mimic nature (in your studio) when you could be in nature? I agree, it would allow me to truly connect with the earth, with my natural environment, and with the elements as I do with my own body and mind.I'm hoping the author will put out an audio version of this neat book soon. Hint, hint. That way, I won't have to look at my screen again and again as I attempt the various postures. I also suggest that she list (perhaps in a future edition) the specific benefits of each of the advanced poses. That said, if think your yoga practice is getting a little stale and want to breath more life into it or simply want to challenge yourself, this book will serve you well!

These really aren't lessons. In teaching a pose you set-up (eg where to place your feet), instruct (where to move your body) refine (tweaks to alignment or breath) and then release (how to safely come out of the pose). A lesson should go deeper into a pose - the physical/mental/emotional benefits of a pose, the muscles it strengthens/stretches, contra indicators, counter poses etc. This book does none of this. It tells you where to put your feet and how to move your body and the "lesson" ends there. It does nothing to inform the reader of the deeper refinements, or even how to know if you are ready for the pose. I wouldn't reccomend this book if your looking to take your practice safely to the next level - in fact, I wouldn't reccomend it under any circumstance.

This book is not for Yoga beginners, only for advanced Yogis. It will take your yoga practise to the next level. So there is no introductory information. There are just the major benefits of yoga described and then the book starts directly with advanced postures. All postures are described step by step and are illustrated by a picture. At the end of the book you also get examples of affirmations that you can use while going through the postures. I found each of the poses encouraging and a great inspiration for continuing my Yoga exercises.

Great book! I am having trouble with a lot of the poses just because I have not practiced enough. The descriptions of how to do them were very thorough and the pictures help a lot too.The one that is the most fun to me is the firefly pose. It is very challenging because I keep falling on my butt because my momentum hits my arms.Anywho, I loved the book and really appreciate it! I can't quite do them all but I love having to progress. Keeps things exciting!

Many basic/easy poses thrown in - there are certainly more challenging poses I would have liked to see included. I would have preferred 1/2 the poses with twice the amount of info and tips provided on each rather than a heavy sprinkling of thrown-aways. None the less there are certainly challenging poses to sink our teeth into. I will revise review once I've played around with the challenging ones to let you know of the instruction is helpful to my practice. ;)

It’s okay. I mean, there’s a lot of advanced poses, and descriptions it’s useful when you don’t have access to the internet like at a park without WiFi. I just wish there were more views of the poses to get a better visual idea, and I wish the health benefits and muscles strengthened and stretched for each pose were included.

This is one thing i always wanted to try out. Too bad I had scarcity of resources-but thank goodness I have this book. This is a powerful resource to overall wellness. This is a relaxing way of enjoying life in its purest and best way.As I said, i knew less of Yoga and although this is already advanced, I did not have hard time going over some steps which I find very indulging.Sooner or later I will see myself like a Yoga Pro. But kidding aside, I believe this book will get me even more strengthened, renewed and empowered.

My main reason for picking up this book is because I was looking for something a little bit further along than a starter book. This book did not disappoint on this issue. I enjoyed it very much and i am sure that you will as well if you are already a yoga practitioner.
