i ordered about 12 how to books (just entered handyman services) and the standard shipping was scheduled for around 5 to 6 days this arrivedfirst out of all today aug 19. 240 pages with index and intros included . i couldnt wait to share my review and help others in search of an incredible tool for answering all your questions about tiling (as i was helped for picking this stanley complete tiling book by another helpful reviewer, ty!) just the prep work before tiling say in the kitchen and removing appliances pointing out tips to claiming nows good time to lay out the mismatched tiles or rough cut tiles under appliances plus so many others pro tips just blew me away it covers PLENTY PLENT PLENTY of information thanks to stanley for a great book now i cannot wait till my other stanley how to books arrive!!!! thanks also to Amazon YOU ALWAYS DELIVER WHAT YOU PROMISE!

I purchased this book as part of a bathroom remodel I am doing.In general, this is a great book. There are lots of photographs, the instructions are clear, and it's a good addition to my reference shelf.That being said, there are a lot of little details which I find confusing, for example:- In the section on creating a shower bed, it suggests that you tack guides to the inside of the shower enclosure, but then doesn't explain why, show how do to so, or make future reference to how to make use of these guide.- It doesn't address how to deal with transitions. For example, it's not uncommon in a bathroom to have a transition on the wall from tile to drywall. This means that underneath you have a transition from cement board to moisture resistant drywall. So how do I tape this transition? Do I use fiberglass tape and joint compound, or do I need to use latex-modified thinset?For the beginner as well, there are some basic things that will be confusing. For example, the book instructs you to nail 2x10 planking between the studs at the base of a shower, but doesn't give any photos to explain how to toe-nail them into place. For someone with no framing experience, this will be confusing.Also, be aware that certain sections of this book are identical to Stanley's book on Baths.That being said, this is a great reference, and I found it to be much better than the Taunton book on the same subject.

If you want to know anything about tiling, get this book. I'm a novice and this book takes you through step by step and talks about numerous tile installations on different surfaces. Great job. It discusses why you might use a certain tile over another and it tells you what to look for when installing your project. I can't say enough about this book. And the pictures were well done also.

Haven't done more than a few very small tile jobs before, so I bought this book as a guide for doing a few large areas of floor, including replacing the subflooring. The book covers everything you need to know, even explaining trim removal, etc. I have found it very helpful, but I haven't done the job yet. An update will be in order after I've tried to use the information from the book.

I am a beginner and after looking at MANY books on tiling, this is the one I decided on. It is a wonderful book that explains everything from start to finish. There are over 800 pictures, so for those of us who like to see what we are about to attempt, this book is great.

2nd hand, but like new. Quite complete, with detailed photos and easy-to-follow presentations.

I have done ceramic tiling in our home off and on for forty years. Bathrooms, kitchen backsplash, Shower stalls, etc. but I am about to cover 300 sq. ft. of floor with 14 inch square tile which is quite different from my other projects. I needed a book to boost my skills in this area and after looking at several, I felt that the Stanley book offered the most detailed practical help with a plethora of photos. On receiving and reading it I was not dissapointed. I recomment this book to beginners and semi-skilled DYIs like me. It offers the basics and some very useful tips.

This book was just what I needed to start my projection, very informative and plenty of illustrations of how to tile, plan and lay out your work if you never tiled before. I needed the book for the finer details involved in tiling work. I think it paid for its self by helping me complete my project. I would recommend this book for the beginner or handyman. It is a very good book.

Detailed guide that not only includes some of the best day hikes near Tucson, but also tells you what terrain you will expect to encounter, whether or not you can bring your pet, a detailed list of what things you may see there, as well as a list of what you may need to take along with you on a day hike. I highly recommend it if you are new to or just visiting Tucson.

This is a small guide book that easily fits into your daypack or jacket pocket and details short hikes in the Tucson area. It's a small price to pay for the confidence that you are on the right trail (and will be able to find your way back to the car).

This trail guide is a great size (4 1/4" x 7") so it's easy to carry. The hikes are organized well and the trail descriptions are well done. Directions to the trailhead are clear. One major shortfall - it gives no elevation change for any hike. It adjusts the hike difficulty level and adds "... due to elevation change." Had I known that I would not have bought this guide.

Well organized, with a good format, informative and accurate. We used it to zero in on the best hikes wherever we were.

Small book that you can take with you when you are searching for that perfect hike. Just wish it had pics.

Nice Hiking Book, Yes, just as described.

This could've been a nice little booklet for people looking for easy/accessible hikes in the Tucson area. Virtually all of the hikes in here are classic/must-do hikes. The problem is that the information given is not necessarily accurate. Fee information and the dog-friendless is especially inaccurate. For instance, several hikes in here say that dogs are allowed on leash when dogs have not been allowed for many many years. Dog-owners would either be disappointed or need to check with other sources (but then, why buy the guide). Similar problems are found throughout the book. An inaccurate guide is worse than no guide.There are superior Tucson area hiking books out there. Maybe not as cheap as this one, but then you get what you pay for.

This story is an important part of my life. I ordered it because Keith Gave wrote it. Also admired his work during his time with the paper. I was willing to accept an average treatment. I've read other books related to the Wings (Mike Babcock's for example) that were amateurish.Not only was the writing exemplary, the story was crafted in spellbinding fashion. Thanks to Mr. Gave I lost three hours of sleep because I couldn't put it down until I finished the book. I'm adding it to my top ten sports books.

For any hockey fan, or better put, any fan of the sport of hockey, The Russian Five were the real Fab Five.Keith Gave's intimate involvement in their arrival in Detroit, and his years covering The Detroit Red Wings; makes him the preeminent authority on the story of the Five.And that story, from the geopolitics of their arrival to their immense impact on Detroit and hockey in general, is compelling, uplifting, and sadly, heartbreaking.I cannot recall a better book, one that surprised this fan of hockey and Red Wing fan with insights and loving appreciation for Five extraordinary men.Thank you, Keith Gave.

I found myself reliving the incredible Red Wing ride that took the franchise from obscurity, to respectability, and on to greatness. I never realized the background details of obtaining the Russian Five. So intriguing! Then I was able to relive the night the Wings pounded the Avalanche into the ice, but this time knowing about Larionov's role and perspective. So many players come and go but these five were exceptional in their skill and determination. They were driven, very proud and very intelligent. The NFL has been blessed by these players and owes them a great deal of credit for the type of game played today.

Just starting the final chapter of "The Russian Five: A Story of Espionage, Defection, Bribery and Courage" by Keith Gave. What a roller coaster ride! As an Avid Wings Fan, I remember the moments in the story that were public. The view from the inside were amazing. Keith Gave had a remarkable inside view of this glorious and saddening chapter of Hockeytown history! These last chapters were heart wrenching...Konstaninov's story, and it's effect on the team, were both painful to read and enlightening. If you are a Hockey Fan, read this. If you are Red Wings fan, read it many times! I can't wait to see the Documentary that will be premiering this month in Detroit! Incredible writing, incredible quotes from the Red Wings greats through-out the story. 5 stars to Keith! 10 to the Wings and their support to the Russian 5!

It’s The Bourne Ifentity meets Miracle. Then add a touch of Brian’s Song. It doesn’t get any better than this. I lived through these stories.. I was at Joe Louis Arena for many of the events and yet I was furiously devouring page after page waiting to see what would happen next. That’s due to Gave’s excellent writing and the intimate details he was privy to. Hockey fan or not, this is a great read. Highly recommended.

All of Samantha's books are good, the story flows, the emotion and the issues that a person or persons are dealing with. Comes out in all of her stories, and you wonder what would you do. Losing her husband, she moves back home, to find that mom and dad, are living and doing separate things. The uncertainty of her house not selling, the discord of her parents, and the old boyfriend next door. She wants peace and quiet, finding it in a cabin, an hour away. The simple life she needs, and the surprises that she finds here. Enjoyable, clean, and interesting of what would you do.

Bridget is a recent widow. She moves back with her mom and dad and quickly finds out she can't stay there. She moves to a small Amish cabin that is owned by Ruth who recommends her designer talent to Dan Lindenlaub. Before long, she finds out she is pregnant and she knows she desires a simple life for her and her baby. We enjoy the growing relationship between Bridget, Ruth, and Dan. Bridget must find happiness in the Amish world for her and her baby. As usual, Samantha does an outstanding job of this story in a sweet, clean and told in a Christian way. You never want to put a Samantha Price book down from the beginning to the end. Thanks, Samantha, such a great job.

I've read many books by Samantha Price, and have yet to be disappointed. I enjoy her many scripture references in her books, her knowledge of the Amish life, and the clean story lines.This book was very different in that the main character was a widow. The surprises that the author had for her were very fun to see unravelled throughout this book.I would recommend this book to anyone interested in Amish books or Christian books.RHONDA

This is a nice, clean and easy read. I do have to admit there were somethings that one of the main Amish characters did, things that I thought the Amish didn't do. I had to let go of my preconceived ideas.

Gave five stars---these are excellent books to read---a clean romance--they are great. I have thoroughly enjoyed each book-- each book is a stand-a-lone book!! Highly recommended for everyone!!!!!

This was really good and shows that two worlds can come together. She loses her husband to the military but has to go thru slot after this. She meets an Amish man and they become friends. The book and story line was exceptional.

I enjoyed this book very much. Bridget goes to an Amish farm to get away from her home after her husband's death. She ends up in Amish country and meets Dan . She ends up turning Amish.

Good concept for sure, but it seems the authors went out of their way to find technically drab photographs to emphasize quirkiness. Many if not most photographers in industry take stunning images that are equal to the best art and commercial photography, so why exactly the authors chose interesting subjects but technically pale images was probably to "art" it up, i.e. make sure it's not pretty. I doubt I will take it off my shelf for another look anytime soon, although it does inspire me to consider making off-beat installation like pictures. There are many compositions that inspire side stepping the predictable.

This is the document of a found photography project from the 70s. Apparently there is a current retrospective of it that attempts to put the works in a narrative framework. That is against the original intention of the project, but don't worry: there is no way to assemble a linear narrative, open to only one interpretation, from this work. The power of these photographs rests on two fundamentals: 1 - they are all found photos taken from corporate archives, not intended as art, and 2 - no caption, explanation, or context is offered. Any original contextualizing aspects have been carefully removed. What you are left with are some really enigmatic images of human activity. You may read criticism of technological society in some, but the artists very wisely avoid all overt "social commentary". Not only does this respect the intelligence of the audience, but it preserves the wonder implicit in most of these images. If I were to distill a "message" out of this work, it is: we are capable of astonishing ourselves simply by going about our business.

It's hard to decide what's more brilliant here: the images themselves, the archives they're tied to, the idea behind the project, or the methods the artists used (imitation "offical" letters of recommendation). But not only is this a great collection of images, it says a lot both about the military-inductrial complex of the '50s through '70s and how it represents itself. A smart book on every level, and the reprint contains some archive photos not included in the original book.

It is a classic. What else do you need to know. All lovers of photography and image editing should own this book or at the very least know about it.

My expectations were more than met, I received something that I will cherish til my dying days...The price was great compared to everyone else.

THERE IS MORE EVIDENCEFinally this is released again. While I have not seen the additional photos, I expect that this trove of non-art photos is without end ... (see Pinterest)! Personally, I was not aware that this endeavor was a touchstone of conceptual something. I can't remember if the original gave information, say in the back of the book,on what we are looking at. While it is one of the great human short comings to read the label BEFORE looking, context can also be a source of further enjoyment. My 2 cents: the conceptual approach, now recognized as an historical art approach, makes this book enshrined there. Perhaps it's just so much "smarty pants marketing." This relates back to a time when stoners turned off the sound to the TV to experience the visual without the wordy explanations, great! When this became a something more than human monkeys learning to just look and get it, I don't know, Calling it art,maybe is a way to wear fancy pants. While this is a great book to have back out there, may I suggest 2 books where we know who the photographer is, HIS vision (not the finders). JOE STEINMETZ with his iconic Tupperware parties (all at Yale). BUT above all there is the "TESTING" book by Consumers Union, with most of the photographs taken by Michael Miller. Subject of NY State Museum retrospective, curated by that wildcat curator L. Datene,1989? These are product testing photos, made iconic by the vision of Miller. They are are surreal, in place, logical but not giving up their mystery. It's been said, there is always more, yes, but I hope we will always find and celebrate the people that had a vision and encouraged the mystery. Mr. Davis,a previous reviewer (who possibly might have issues with my take) had a wonderful and memorable phrase, "we are capable of astonishing ourselves simply by going about our business." GREAT! This is all to say it's a good book, but worth thinking about! Thanks

This book is everything I hoped it would be. Great quality reproductions and as intriguing as I imagined it would be.

VERY useful book. We purchased it for a trip to Alaska, and glad we did. Excellent publication with charts and the area broken down into regions, what you will find in each area. Well worth the purchase price.

This is an excellent little book for viewing wildlife on the Kenai Peninsula. This was our first trip to Alaska and we decided to rent an RV, travel to Seward and to Anchorage. Without this book, we would have missed some very interesting areas. It simplified our driving and gave us areas to view that were close to the highway when we did not have a lot of time, and areas in more remote locations when time was not a factor. We would have missed the boardwalk in Seward if we had not read about it in the book. And, that is where the Bald Eagles reside in close proximity. Also, the book breaks down the Peninsula into several areas, a must if you have not traveled here before. This book is highly recommended for any trip to the Kenai Peninsula in Alaska.

I spent 3 months in Soldotna, AK this past summer. This book was purchased on a whim and thought of "Oh, it's less than $10, so if it's bad oh well". This is an awesome book, and I loved the bird checklist in the back. I treated the book as a travel journal and kept notes and stamps on each place I visited. I can not wait to go back!

This was a great book, for when we traveled to Alaska. The trails it referred to were very good; they were trails I didn't find in the usual tourist books. Kenai peninsula is beautiful, and this was a useful book to help make our experience even deeper.

This book is divided into 5 areas and gives information for sites in each about what wildlife is to be found and hints on where to view it. This is a really special book for anyone visiting the Kenai Peninsula.

This is a wonderful little book. I bought it to go on a few days outing after a cruise last year, and will be using it again this year when we go back on our own. Well written, concise and helpful.

Recently visited Alaska and in particular this area for the first time. This book is full of great information. Kenai Peninsula is a beautiful part of the state.

This will be a great book to take along with us on our trip, When we are in Kenai - we will know what to look for as we stop at different parks, trails, along the way. Can't wait to take the trip! I like the way it breaks down each area with the type of animals seen in each particular season.
